Abbott Weesp is an important location within the Abbott Established Pharmaceuticals Division (EPD). In state‑of‑the‑art production facilities, qualified employees produce raw materials (APIs) for medicines such as laxatives, hormones and the flu vaccine. For our pharmaceutical production site in Weesp, we are looking for an Environmental Specialist (EHS Specialist).
The primary task of the Environmental Specialist is to optimize and implement the EHS policy, with a focus on the Environment. You will join a team with various specialists related to safety, construction and the environment. You will have close contact with various disciplines within the Weesp site. You report to the EHS Manager.
What will you do?
- Assess, monitor, and improve compliance with Dutch and European laws and regulations and Abbott Technical EHS standards.
- Request and maintain permits (incl. environmental, environmental and water law permits) in consultation with the government and the Abbott organization.
- Support ISO 14001 Management System:
- Maintaining procedures and instructions.
- Providing training.
- Supporting regular and periodic consultations with production departments and other relevant stakeholders.
- Performing internal and external audits.
- Leading incident investigations and preparing reports.
- Writing up annual reports.
This position is very diverse. One moment you are working on strategic policy, the next moment you are facilitating a training for colleagues on the shop floor. You will work within a team of motivated and driven colleagues.
What kind of knowledge and experience do you bring?
- You are confident, a team player, work in a structured way, and are continuously focused on improvement.
- You have up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant regulations in the field of the environment and ADR/IATA, as well as standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- You can apply these to create and maintain a safe and healthy (working) environment.
- You are in possession of a University or HBO Environmental Science degree, or a chemical or technical direction with additional training in environmental regulations.
- You are in possession of a safety advisor ADR certificate or willing to obtain one.
- You have at least three years of experience in a similar role in a technical process environment, such as the chemical and/or pharmaceutical industry.
- In addition to the Dutch language, you also have a command of the English language, communicate easily, dare to speak to people and are a good listener.
