Abbotsholme is a co-educational, boarding and day school for children aged 2 to 20 years old, set in a large, beautiful estate on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border. We are committed to a holistic philosophy of education, striving to nurture and develop pupils\\\’ strengths and abilities through excellence in academic studies, superb pastoral care and a unique and broad-ranging extra-curricular program. We are seeking to appoint a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to join our dynamic team. You will work closely with student(s) who require individualised support to thrive on their educational journey, providing tailored assistance to meet the student\\\’s academic, social and emotional needs within the classroom setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to a student with special educational needs in the classroom
- Collaborate with teachers, parents and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor and support progress towards academic, social and emotional goals
- Utilise appropriate learning strategies to foster student success
- Demonstrate empathy, patience, adaptability, and effective communication
- Maintain organised records and contribute to a positive team environment
Role Details
The role is full time, working Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., during term time only.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Relevant qualifications and experience in supporting students with special educational needs
- Strong understanding of various learning strategies and ability to implement them
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work closely with teachers, parents and other professionals in an inclusive learning environment
