Abbotsfield School is a new independent primary school and homeschool provision rooted in creativity, outdoor learning, wellbeing, and community. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support the development of our unique learning environment for children aged 5–11.
Location: Wiveliscombe, Somerset
Salary: £24,500 – £31,000 FTE
Actual Term-Time Salary: Approximately £20,000 – £25,500 depending on hours and experience
Hours - Part time 30 - full time 40 per week
Contract Type: Permanent | Term Time Only

The Role
- Support teaching and learning across KS1 and lower KS2
- Deliver planned interventions and small-group teaching
- Occasionally lead whole-class learning activities under teacher guidance
- Support literacy, numeracy, wellbeing, and project-based learning
- Assist with outdoor learning, educational visits, and enrichment activities
- Build warm, supportive relationships with children and families
- Contribute to creating a calm, inspiring, and inclusive environment
- The role would particularly suit someone who values holistic education, creativity, outdoor learning, and nurturing pastoral care.
