We are looking for a warm, compassionate and experienced Live-In Carer to support Shirley, a lovely 92-year-old lady in her own home in Stapleford, Hertfordshire.
Shirley is a sociable lady who loves a good chat and enjoys having music playing. She also loves her garden and enjoys being able to see and appreciate it from home.
Although Shirley doesn't get out and about as much as she used to, she still really enjoys looking around the shops when she has the opportunity.
The right carer will take the time to get to know Shirley, understand what matters to her and help her continue enjoying the things she loves.
We are therefore looking for a carer who is patient, calm, reassuring and who will never rush her. Someone who can listen to Shirley's concerns, help her feel safe and gradually build her confidence would be a wonderful fit.
The role will include:
- Providing companionship and conversation
- Supporting Shirley with her daily routines and personal care
- Offering reassurance and support around her mobility
- Helping her maintain as much choice and independence as possible
- Preparing meals and drinks
- Supporting with medication in line with her care plan
- Light household duties and laundry
- Supporting with shopping and errands
- Encouraging Shirley to enjoy her music and garden
- Where appropriate and when Shirley feels comfortable, supporting her to enjoy trips out, including looking around the shops
- Monitoring her general wellbeing and communicating any concerns
We are offering:
- Rates of £800 per week, with an additional £50.00 per week food allowance
- Ongoing training and professional development.
- Clinical support and supervision.

More than anything, Shirley needs someone who will take the time to get to know her as a person.
Her ideal carer will be:
- A driver, with a full UK license and own vehicle - this is madatory for the role
- Friendly, chatty and a good listener
- Kind, patient and compassionate
- Calm and reassuring, particularly when supporting mobility
- Respectful of Shirley's choices and feelings
- Experienced in supporting the elderly
- Ideally experienced in live-in care
- Reliable and able to work confidently and independently
- Passionate about providing person-centred care
- Someone who understands that the little things, such as putting on some favourite music, having a chat or enjoying the garden together, can make a real difference to someone's day
