Overview

Abbots Care is an award-winning care provider.

We provide round-the-clock care packages to support people including children, young people and adults who have long term health conditions to live in the comfort and safety of their own home.

Responsibilities

  • Support a client living with a C3 complete spinal cord injury (tetraplegia) to live as independently as possible.
  • Provide regular personal care, catheter care and bowel care using a suppository.
  • Assist with daily activities in the client’s home in Buntingford, Hertfordshire, alongside his wife.
  • Work as part of a care team and independently as required.
  • Follow care plans and document care delivery; participate in handovers and training as provided.
  • Be comfortable around two very large dogs and be aware of CCTV in operation in the carer’s room and outside the property.
  • Shifts are a mix of days and nights (8am – 8pm and 8pm – 8am). Carers must arrive 15 minutes prior to shift start for handover.

Qualifications

  • Experience in complex care or spinal injuries is desirable (training provided).
  • Calm, good sense of humor, emotionally mature and non-judgemental.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Experience in the care sector is essential.
  • Compliant with health and safety and safeguarding practices as part of care delivery.
