Overview
We are looking for compassionate, dedicated care workers to support a retired GP who sustained a life‑changing spinal cord injury following a fall in February 2026.
The client lives in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, requires a live‑in carer and additional support to assist with daily living activities, personal hygiene, continence care, pressure area management, and emotional well‑being.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care including dressing, bathing, and toileting, with assistance from a second carer when necessary.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and drinking support.
- Perform repositioning and pressure area management to maintain skin integrity.
- Help with continence care and monitoring of urinary continence.
- Maintain the client’s emotional well‑being through conversation, interest, and rapport building.
- Support the client’s rehabilitation goals and participate in community activities when appropriate.
- Assist the client’s Labrador in daily care and walking routines.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for the client.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in domiciliary or residential care settings.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage in meaningful conversation.
- Honesty, reliability, and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
- Commitment to maintaining the high quality of life for a client with a spinal cord injury.
- Proactive approach, energy, and willingness to support community activities and travel opportunities.
- Shift Patterns
Flexible 12‑hour shifts (8am‑8pm or 8pm‑8am) across a 24‑hour rota, including day shifts, waking nights, and alternate weekends.
Full‑time and part‑time opportunities are available, with additional shifts to cover annual leave, sickness, and changing service requirements.
Driver Requirements
Carriers must possess a reliable vehicle and be comfortable around dogs. They should be willing to drive the client and his Labrador for appointments and community activities.
