Job Overview
This role provides full training and support to a 47‑year‑old client with a C3 complete spinal cord injury (tetraplegia) living in Buntingford, Hertfordshire.
Abbots Care will deliver full, paid training and ongoing development to help you provide the highest level of care.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care and mobility for a client with tetraplegia.
- Monitor client safety via CCTV in the carer’s room and outdoors.
- Prepare the client for daily activities and help with meal or medication management where appropriate.
- Work both day and night shifts, arriving 15 minutes early for handover.
- Collaborate closely with the care team, family and external health professionals.
Requirements
- Experience working in the care sector, preferably with complex care or spinal injuries (training will be provided).
- Calm, emotionally mature, non‑judgemental, with a good sense of humour.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Comfortable working around two large, friendly Great Dane dogs.
- Right to work in the UK – overseas applicants will not be considered.
- Shift Schedule
The package involves a mix of day and night shifts: 8:00am – 8:00pm and 8:00pm – 8:00am. Carers are required to arrive 15 minutes before shift start for handover.
