We are working with a well-established international business that is in the early stages of building out its UK operation. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced logistics professional to join at the beginning of a significant growth phase and help shape the company’s UK logistics and warehousing infrastructure from the ground up. The initial focus will be a major operational build project over the next two years. This will involve supporting the setup of multiple warehouse locations across the UK, managing the flow of a high volume of physical assets into the country, and helping decide the most effective logistics structure as the business scales. Longer term, the role will evolve into a broader logistics, warehouse and operations management position as the UK operation becomes more established. This would suit someone who enjoys building processes, solving operational challenges and creating structure in a growing environment.
The Role
The role will be broad, hands-on and project-focused. You will work closely with senior management to help design, implement and manage the logistics function across the UK. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the setup of multiple warehouse locations across the UK
- Managing the movement of high-volume physical assets into the UK
- Reviewing, selecting and managing third-party logistics and warehouse partners
- Helping assess whether logistics should remain outsourced or be brought in-house
- Supporting the potential setup of a larger UK warehouse operation
- Coordinating inbound logistics, stock movement, storage and onward distribution
- Building processes, controls and reporting from scratch
- Managing supplier, warehouse, courier and 3PL relationships
- Identifying risks, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement
- Working closely with senior leadership during a period of rapid growth
- Creating scalable logistics processes to support long-term UK expansion
The Person
We are looking for someone with strong logistics, warehousing, supply chain or 3PL experience who is comfortable working in a growing business where processes are still being built. You do not need to have completed this exact type of project before, but you will need the confidence, commercial awareness and operational judgement to help shape a logistics function during a significant growth phase. The successful candidate is likely to have:
- Strong experience in logistics, supply chain, warehousing, distribution or 3PL management
- Experience managing third-party logistics providers, warehouse partners or distribution networks
- Good understanding of stock movement, inbound logistics and warehouse operations
- Confidence building processes, reporting and controls
- Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
- Ability to work with senior stakeholders and influence operational decisions
- A proactive, hands-on approach
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in a changing environment
- Experience with project-based logistics, operational setup or business growth would be highly advantageous
Why This Role?
This is not a role where you would simply inherit an established logistics function. The real appeal is the opportunity to help build something from the ground up. You will be joining at the start of a major UK growth journey, with the chance to influence how the logistics operation is structured, how warehouse capacity is managed and how the business scales over the next two years and beyond. For someone who enjoys logistics, supplier management, process improvement and operational build projects, this could be a highly rewarding opportunity.
Package
- Salary in the region of £45,000 - £55,000 depending on experience
- Opportunity to join a growing UK operation at an early stage
- Significant project exposure over the first two years
- Long-term logistics and warehouse management opportunity
- Close working relationship with senior leadership
- International business with strong backing and growth plans
