I'm working with a growing product-based business looking to hire a Quality Control Lead into a newly important role at the centre of quality, regulatory compliance and technical governance. This is a good fit for someone who enjoys bringing structure to areas that matter. The role will suit a detail-focused person who can manage day-to-day compliance activity, improve quality processes, work across suppliers and internal teams, and make sure product-related documentation is accurate, complete and audit-ready. It is not a laboratory-style quality role, and it is not purely administrative either. It sits in that middle ground between technical compliance, product quality, process improvement and commercial practicality.

The role

  • You’ll take ownership of product compliance and quality activity across a broad technical product range, helping ensure products are supported by the right documentation, validation, controls and governance.
  • You’ll be involved in things like:
  • Managing product compliance records, technical documentation and declarations
  • Coordinating and improving internal quality control and product checking processes
  • Supporting product approval and validation activity for new and existing lines
  • Investigating non-conformances, product issues and returns, and helping drive corrective action
  • Working with suppliers to obtain, review and maintain compliance information
  • Monitoring changes in relevant legislation and assessing impact on the product range
  • Completing customer compliance requests, supplier questionnaires and pre-qualification submissions
  • Supporting audit preparation and maintaining a strong level of documentation readiness
  • Improving systems, reporting and data management around quality and compliance
  • Building clearer processes for tracking risk, documentation and supplier status
  • Contributing to wider continuous improvement, sustainability and product stewardship initiatives

What they’re looking for

They’re open on exact background, but this is likely to suit someone from a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment. You’ll probably have experience in several of the following areas:

  • Product compliance
  • Quality assurance or quality control
  • Technical documentation and governance
  • Supplier compliance
  • Product validation or technical approvals
  • Regulatory compliance within a product-based business
  • Audit preparation and process improvement

You do not need to have done this in exactly the same setting before, but you will need to be comfortable working in a role where accuracy matters and where the business relies on you to create order, consistency and follow-through.

Key experience

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience in a quality, compliance or technical governance role within a product-led business
  • A working knowledge of product-related regulatory and environmental compliance requirements
  • Confidence dealing with technical files, declarations, certifications and supporting records
  • Experience investigating issues, spotting gaps and tightening process
  • The ability to work across suppliers, operations, commercial teams and product stakeholders
  • A practical, organised approach and the confidence to take ownership

Why this role stands out

This is one of those roles where you can make a visible difference quite quickly. The business needs somebody who can bring shape and accountability to an area that has grown in importance. So rather than just maintaining a well-established machine, you’ll have the chance to improve how things are done, introduce better structure, and become the go-to person for product quality and compliance matters.

Package

  • Salary up to £50,000
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Long-term opportunity in a growing business
  • Genuine scope to shape process and add value

If you’ve worked in product compliance, technical quality, supplier compliance or a similar role and want something where you can really get your teeth into it, I'd be keen to speak.
