Fixed-Term Contract | c.£65,000 – £75,000 + benefits | Hybrid

Abbeygate Search is supporting a highly successful international business with the confidential appointment of an experienced Interim Payroll Manager on a fixed-term contract basis. This is a key role within the finance function, taking ownership of payroll delivery across multiple countries and ensuring payroll is processed accurately, efficiently and in line with local compliance requirements. The successful candidate will manage a small payroll team, work closely with internal stakeholders across Finance, HR and Reward, and act as the main point of contact for payroll-related matters across the region.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the accurate and timely delivery of monthly payroll across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Leading, supporting and developing a small payroll team.
  • Overseeing payroll controls, reconciliations, reporting and compliance processes.
  • Working closely with HR, Finance and external payroll providers to resolve queries and improve processes.
  • Ensuring payroll activity is delivered in line with relevant local legislation and internal policies.
  • Supporting ongoing process improvements, system enhancements and payroll-related projects.
  • Providing clear reporting and insight to senior stakeholders where required.

The successful candidate will likely have:

  • Strong payroll management experience, ideally across multiple countries or international regions.
  • Previous experience managing or supervising a payroll team.
  • A good understanding of payroll controls, compliance and vendor management.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work across Finance, HR and external providers.
  • A calm, organised and hands-on approach.
  • Experience working in a sizeable, fast-moving or international business would be highly beneficial.

This is a confidential fixed-term contract opportunity with a well-established international organisation. The role would suit someone who is immediately available or available at short notice and comfortable stepping into a visible payroll leadership position.
