Audit Manager in Glasgow

We are working with a well-established accountancy and advisory firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Audit Manager to join its Glasgow team. This is a strong opportunity for a qualified audit professional who enjoys managing client relationships, leading audit assignments and supporting the development of junior colleagues. The role would suit someone who is comfortable taking ownership of a varied portfolio and who enjoys being a key point of contact for clients throughout the audit process. The firm works with a broad range of businesses, from owner-managed companies through to larger and more complex organisations. You would be joining a supportive team environment with a clear structure, good progression opportunities and a flexible approach to working.

The role involves overseeing audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales. Typical responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of audit clients and building strong working relationships with key contacts
• Planning, coordinating and reviewing audit assignments across a varied client base
• Acting as a key contact for clients, providing clear communication throughout the audit process
• Reviewing audit files and ensuring work is completed in line with relevant standards and internal quality procedures
• Identifying technical matters during assignments and helping to resolve these appropriately
• Monitoring budgets, timescales and job profitability, including identifying and addressing any overruns
• Supporting, coaching and developing junior members of the audit team
• Providing constructive feedback to colleagues and helping them progress technically and professionally
• Working closely with senior colleagues and partners on client delivery, team development and wider departmental priorities
• Contributing to new business activity, proposals or client pitches where required
• Taking an active role in your own development and supporting continuous improvement across the team

You will ideally be:

• ACA, ACCA or CA qualified
• Experienced in external audit within an accountancy practice environment
• Confident managing a portfolio of clients and multiple assignments at the same time
• Comfortable reviewing work and supporting more junior team members
• Able to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues and senior stakeholders
• Commercially aware, organised and able to manage deadlines effectively
• Technically strong, with a good understanding of audit quality and professional standards
