The role involves overseeing audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales. Typical responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of audit clients and building strong working relationships with key contacts
- Planning, coordinating and reviewing audit assignments across a varied client base
- Acting as a key contact for clients, providing clear communication throughout the audit process
- Reviewing audit files and ensuring work is completed in line with relevant standards and internal quality procedures
- Identifying technical matters during assignments and helping to resolve these appropriately
- Monitoring budgets, timescales and job profitability, including identifying and addressing any overruns
- Supporting, coaching and developing junior members of the audit team
- Providing constructive feedback to colleagues and helping them progress technically and professionally
- Working closely with senior colleagues and partners on client delivery, team development and wider departmental priorities
- Contributing to new business activity, proposals or client pitches where required
- Taking an active role in your own development and supporting continuous improvement across the team
You will ideally be:
- ACA, ACCA or CA qualified
- Experienced in external audit within an accountancy practice environment
- Confident managing a portfolio of clients and multiple assignments at the same time
- Comfortable reviewing work and supporting more junior team members
- Able to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues and senior stakeholders
- Commercially aware, organised and able to manage deadlines effectively
- Technically strong, with a good understanding of audit quality and professional standards
