Over 60 years later, our mission thrives thanks to the hundreds of incredible volunteers who bring their unique skills and personalities to our houses and homes.

Skills and experience

The most important thing you bring is yourself! We have roles for everyone, regardless of experience. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm are all we need to get started. If you have specific skills you\’d like to share, let us know!

Support and training

We provide a comprehensive induction program tailored to your specific volunteer role, including all the training and support you need to feel comfortable and empowered to make a difference from day one.

Interview process

After you apply, we\’ll invite you for an informal interview to get to know each other better. It\’s a chance for you to learn about the role and for us to see if you\’d be a great fit for the team.

References and DBS check

Our volunteering roles require two references and a DBS check. Eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory employment references and an Enhanced DBS check are required; the cost will be met by Abbeyfield.
