We're looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Finance Officer - Accounts Payable to join our Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts payable professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and takes pride in delivering an accurate and efficient finance service.

About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Operations Lead, you'll play a key role in ensuring our supplier payments are processed accurately and on time. You'll manage the accounts payable function, resolve supplier queries, support payment runs and contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes. You'll also provide ad hoc support across accounts receivable and banking activities, helping to ensure continuity across the wider Finance team.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Processing supplier invoices accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Managing supplier queries and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies.
  • Supporting bi-monthly payment runs and manual payments.
  • Assisting with Abbeyfield's procurement and company credit card schemes.
  • Supporting banking, direct debit collections and refunds when required.
  • Maintaining financial controls and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Contributing to improvements across finance processes and systems.

About You

We're looking for someone who is methodical, organised and enjoys working with numbers. You'll have excellent attention to detail and be confident managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. You'll ideally have:

  • At least 3 years' experience in an Accounts Payable or transactional finance role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Outstanding communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience working within a not-for-profit organisation or using invoice capture systems would be an advantage but isn't essential.
