We’re seeking relief staff to complement our existing Sheltered Housing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a flexible, rewarding role where they can make a real difference in the lives of older people.
About The Role
As relief staff, you will take on a dual role, combining cooking and resident support responsibilities. You will directly impact the wellbeing of our residents by providing the support and care they need in a safe, nurturing environment.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Meal Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and serve home‑cooked meals for residents, while maintaining food stock and ensuring proper rotation.
- Resident Support: Be the first point of contact for residents, offering a friendly face and support with their daily needs.
- Housekeeping: Ensure communal areas are clean, tidy, and well‑maintained, creating a comfortable environment for all.
- Wellbeing Promotion: Promote the overall wellbeing of our residents, ensuring they feel respected, empowered, and connected within our community.
Pay & Benefits
- In line with your casual (bank) worker assignment agreement, we offer competitive pay that is benchmarked regularly, and in line with those of our employed staff in similar roles.

- And depending on how many hours you work, you will accrue leave at an equivalent rate of 31 days paid leave in a full calendar year, inclusive of bank/public holidays (pro rata).
- To carry out this role, you will be provided with mandatory training to get you started, as part of a comprehensive induction. To work for us in future assignments, you will be expected to keep your mandatory training up to date.

Please note this role will require eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory employment references and a basic DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Abbeyfield.
