Abbeyfield are looking for a Regional Operations Manager to lead and develop provision of 7 elderly care services across the South region, ensuring fulfilling experiences for residents, high levels of quality and compliance, in line with our mission and values.

Location: Remote / Home based role with travel across London, Southampton, Surrey, Devon, Buckinghamshire, West Sussex and Wokingham.

Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 per annum

Hours: 35 Hours a week. Monday - Friday. 9am - 5pm

The Role of Regional Operations Manager:

  • Ensure our residents’ experience is always the top priority for all your Registered Care Home Managers.
  • Embed strong governance by securing high levels of operational quality and CQC compliance.
  • Ensure the maintenance of high levels of occupancy to secure sustainable revenue streams.
  • Enhance the levels of reputation in our target markets in all our communities we serve.
  • Provide inspiring operational leadership to the registered home managers and their respective teams.
  • Ensure our residents’ health and wellbeing is always the top priority for all our Registered Care Home Managers and Staff.
  • Ensure a robust approach to care provision, to include effective processes and controls are maintained around admissions, needs assessment, nutrition, medication and moving on.
  • Use agreed quality monitoring tools to ensure the quality and safety of services and monitor against key performance indicators; responding appropriately and without delay where quality and/or safety are being compromised.
  • Provide leadership and promote a positive culture of continuous improvement by ensuring service-level audits are undertaken, lessons are learned from any incidents, and evidence of continuous improvement actions are recorded for each service.
  • Assist in embedding and monitoring the implementation of organisational systems and processes to ensure they are put into practice effectively and appropriately at the operational level.
  • Support service managers to achieve Abbeyfield’s internal mark of quality for their services.
  • Ensure all Homes achieve a minimum Good CQC rating, share best practice across all homes and implement a “lessons learned” culture.
  • Oversee overall financial performance and ongoing viability of all care homes.
  • Work with registered managers in proactively identifying variances to agreed budgets, and ensure corrective action is taken.

About You:

  • A track record of multi-site operational delivery in a regulatory (ideally elderly care) setting.
  • Strong people leadership skills; has managed a geographically dispersed workforce using a coaching style; can evidence best practice approach to recruitment, engagement and talent management.
  • Working knowledge of quality and regulatory compliance as it relates to elderly care provision; in particular the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010, the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009 and the Care Act 2014/15.
  • Experience in managing large operating budgets; has achieved and occasionally exceeded challenging budgetary targets.
  • Able to build brand and service reputation through the development of strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A highly effective communicator; exploits available technology and tools to ensure team members get the right knowledge and information about the right things at the right time.
  • A Relevant Care related qualification (e.g. NVQ L5 Diploma in Social Welfare/Community Support).
