Role: Cook - Bank Agreement

Pay: £13.24 per hour

The Role of Cook:

  • This is a casual (bank) position.
  • You should have a relevant Certificate in Food Hygiene or be willing to obtain one within the first three months.
  • Experience in cooking varied, healthy, and safe meals for large groups (12-20 people) regularly.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to read and write to a good standard.
  • Methodical and organized, maintaining cleanliness and effective stock rotation in the kitchen.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding of the nutritional needs of older people.

About You:

  • Create healthy, balanced menus in consultation with residents and staff, reflecting their needs and preferences.
  • Plan, prepare, and cook meals according to the menu, considering dietary requirements like diabetes.
  • Ensure a safe and sufficient supply of catering products by developing a timely ordering system.
  • Maintain accurate records of orders and deliveries for auditing purposes.
  • Implement effective stock rotation and control to manage catering costs within the budget.
  • Ensure safe use of catering equipment, report defects, and adhere to cleaning procedures in line with Environmental Health standards.
  • Use all equipment and products in accordance with COSHH requirements, keeping assessments up to date.
  • Participate in and supervise the completion of food safety records.

As a casual worker, you will receive competitive pay benchmarked regularly and accrue leave at an equivalent rate of 31 days paid leave per year, including bank/public holidays (pro-rata). Mandatory training will be provided as part of your induction, and ongoing training updates are expected for future assignments.
