At Abbey Logistics, we are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with payroll experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and delivering excellent support to employees across the business. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring weekly and monthly payrolls are processed accurately and on time, while providing first-class support for employee payroll queries via phone and email.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll legislation and procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
Key Responsibilities- Process weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and within deadlines
- Maintain payroll systems and employee records, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date
- Calculate and input payroll data including wages, deductions, overtime, pensions, and statutory payments
- Respond to employee payroll queries relating to pay, deductions, attendance, and timesheets
- Ensure compliance with payroll policies, HMRC requirements, PAYE, NIC, pensions, CSA, and attachment of earnings regulations
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
- Produce and maintain accurate payroll records and reports
- Handle confidential payroll information with discretion and professionalism
- Support the Payroll Manager with general payroll administration and process improvements
- Minimum of 2 years’ payroll experience
- Good knowledge of payroll legislation, pension regulations, and HMRC reporting requirements
- Experience using payroll systems
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including intermediate Excel knowledge
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks
