The Role: We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated HGV Regional Driver Trainer & Compliance Support to join our team. This dual-role position is crucial to supporting the safe and compliant operation of our fleet by delivering high-quality driver training and providing support to the compliance and transport teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure new starters are inducted and trained to a high standard correctly.
- Deliver in-house driver training, inductions, and assessments for HGV tanker drivers.
- Conduct practical training on both liquid and powder tanker operations.
- Support the development and improvement of driver training programmes.
- Carry out driver observations and refresher training.
- Assist in monitoring and improving driver compliance with transport legislation (including tachograph analysis and driver infringements).
- Support accident and incident investigations involving drivers.
- Work closely with Transport Managers and Compliance teams to promote a culture of safety and best practice.
- Keep accurate training and assessment records in line with accredited/training standards and kept up to date for auditing, behavioural standards, insurance and compliance purposes.
- Deliver Driver CPC, under the JAUPT-approved training scheme involving Classroom, Remote and In Cab training.
- Responsible for ensuring ALG processes meet quality standards and expectations of our customers.
- Support and introduce processes to improve damage reduction and overall fleet cleanliness.
- Complete spot checks on: Vehicle walkaround checks, Loading Procedures, Coupling/Uncoupling, Tractor unit and Tank condition/Damage.
What We’re Looking For:
- Class 1 (C+E) HGV Licence essential – Minimum of 5 years experience.
- Significant experience as a professional HGV driver, with tanker experience.
- Previous experience as a driver trainer or assessor.
- Excellent knowledge of transport regulations and driver compliance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coach and engage drivers in a positive and professional manner.
- A passion for safety, continuous improvement, and high standards.
- Flexibility to travel nationally when required.
- FORS Bronze & Silver Experience (preferred).
- Experience of delivering Driver CPC courses.
- Full understanding of the Working Time Regulations 2002/15/EC.
- Full understanding of Drivers Hours Regulations EC561/2006.
Qualifications:
- Clean Driving HGV Class (C + E) License – Minimum 5 years’ experience (essential).
- RITITB Assessor Qualification or NRI (essential or qualification to be obtained).
- Working at Height Trainer.
- Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations – IOSH Qualification (essential, or qualification to be obtained).
- HACCP (desirable or qualification to be obtained).
