As part of the United Learning Trust, Abbey Hey Academy is a larger than average sized primary school in the heart of Gorton, East Manchester. The school serves a vibrant and diverse community of learners. Abbey Hey is incredibly popular with local families and has very few places available along with long waiting lists for some year groups. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Cover Supervisor with the skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver high-quality learning experiences and provide class cover across our large and vibrant primary school. The successful candidate will work across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, supporting teaching and learning, delivering interventions, and leading whole-class teaching during teacher absence, PPA time and leadership release time. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated practitioner who is passionate about helping every child achieve their full potential.

We are looking for someone who will:

  • Be passionate about supporting teaching and learning and raising standards for all pupils.
  • Have experience of working across the primary age range and a good understanding of child development and learning.
  • Confidently lead whole-class teaching, delivering lessons planned by teachers and adapting learning where appropriate.
  • Build positive, respectful and trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development, enabling them to access learning and make strong progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and leaders to ensure continuity and consistency in learning across the school.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and groups of pupils.
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Assess, monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress in line with school policies.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils are able to participate fully in learning and wider school life.
  • Hold a Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Have GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • Be flexible, proactive and able to adapt quickly to working with different classes, year groups and staff teams.
  • Be committed to ongoing professional development and keen to contribute to the wider life of the school.
  • Be enthusiastic about making a difference and helping every child to succeed.
