Job Purpose: To ensure a clean and hygienic environment in all areas of the Home, recognising the residents’ rights to privacy and dignity. Understand and abide by infection control policy.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role within a Care Home environment preferred.
- Ideally has undertaken Level 2 of Cleaning Operative Training.
- Has good communication skills, including verbal and written skills.
- Has due consideration to the safety of others.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Participating in setting and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the home while taking care of fixtures and fittings.
- Ensuring ALERT SIGNS are in place when necessary, e.g., wet floors.
- Using resources economically and effectively.
- Be aware of correct cleaning solutions and equipment for the correct job, e.g., carpet shampoo for the correct carpet and the correct dose of solutions.
- Be aware of the responsibility to report any accidents, untoward incidents, hazards, and unsafe equipment.
- Understand and work within agreed policies related to:
- a. Fire precautions and procedures
- b. Environmental Health rules and regulations
- c. Health and Safety at work
- d. Care of equipment
- e. Care of resident’s belongings
- f. COSHH regulations
- g. Infection control
- Ensure cleaning schedules are completed.
- Undertake any other duties, e.g., kitchen/laundry at times of need.
- Abide by and understand policies and procedures.
- Attend mandatory and in-house training as required and complete mandatory e-learning.
- Help promote the home at all times.
- Attend meetings as required.
Health and Safety:
Be conversant with and ensure all staff are aware of the requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and their compliance. Advise the Manager of any areas of concern.
