About the Role
The Employment Project Officer will support unemployed and economically inactive individuals to improve wellbeing and overcome barriers to employment, education, and training. The post holder will provide person‑centred support and guidance, deliver employability support, develop action plans, and work closely with employers, training providers, and community organisations to help participants achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Participant Support
- Manage a caseload of participants and provide one-to-one employment support.
- Complete initial assessments to identify individual needs, strengths, and barriers.
- Develop tailored action plans with clear goals and progression routes.
- Support participants to improve confidence, motivation, and employability skills.
- Assist with CV writing, job applications, interview preparation, and job searching.
- Signpost and refer participants to appropriate support services where required.
- Plan and deliver employability workshops and group sessions.
Employer Engagement and Partnership Working
- Build positive relationships with local employers and training providers.
- Identify employment, volunteering, and work experience opportunities.
- Support participants to access vacancies and prepare for recruitment processes.
- Liaise with employers to promote inclusive recruitment practices.
- Develop effective relationships with community organisations and referral agencies.
- Promote the project within the local community.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Maintain accurate participant records and case notes.
- Monitor participant progress against targets and outcomes.
- Produce reports and updates for project managers and funders.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and safeguarding requirements.
Person Specification
- Experience of supporting individuals into employment, education, or training.
- Knowledge of employability techniques and local labour markets.
- Experience of delivering one to one support and group activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage people facing multiple barriers.
- Strong organisational, administration, and IT skills
- Knowledge of local support services and referral pathways
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- Relevant qualification in Advice and Guidance, Employment Support, Youth Work, Community Development, Coaching, or a related field.
- Experience working within the voluntary, community, or public sector.
- Understanding of welfare benefits and barriers to employment.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, low confidence, poor mental wellbeing, disability, or long-term unemployment.
