In this role you will contribute to improving Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) performance in your area of responsibility and help cultivate a high‑performance culture with a strong focus on QHSE and employee wellbeing.
Role Overview
This role is part of the UK Electrification, Power Protection division. You will be mainly accountable for promoting a proactive safety culture, leading incident investigations, facilitating lessons learned, conducting contractor site inspections, and developing quality strategies that support operational improvement across the value chain.
Responsibilities
- Promote a proactive safety culture within the local Power Protection team.
- Lead and support incident investigation on Health, Safety, and Environmental incidents in line with ABB internal reporting procedures.
- Facilitate lessons learned briefings and lead initiatives to drive best practices within the Power Protection team.
- Conduct contractor site inspections and supply chain assurance audits.
- Participate actively in site inspections and audits, regularly engaging with the operations and field services team.
- Develop and implement Quality strategies in line with ABB and external requirements, supporting local adoption to improve quality standards and operational performance.
- Set coherent and aligned QHSE priorities and targets across the value chain, monitor progress, analyse QHSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and act on deviations.
- Facilitate local QHSE activities and campaigns, promoting stakeholder involvement through collaborative effort.
- Drive behavioural change through implementing Group‑wide performance improvement programmes and practices locally.
- Engage external and internal stakeholders to report on, raise awareness, and gain commitment to ABB's QHSE efforts.
- Collaborate with other business functions and partners to drive performance.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- Internal auditing experience (ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
- Quality/Continuous Improvement experience within a complex, matrix organisation.
- Strong electrical safety bias and experience.
- Experience in Power Protection, UPS, or battery industry is a strong advantage.
- Experience working within a field service environment.
- Strong communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and training.
- Proven leadership capabilities and a team‑oriented attitude.
- Full UK Clean driving licence.
