This position reports to: Production Engineering Manager
Your role and responsibilities:
- Optimize production processes, methodologies, and equipment across the Instrumentation product lines.
- Assess current processes and introduce new improvement ideas using lean manufacturing concepts.
- Deliver tangible impact to cycle time, productivity, efficiency, and ergonomics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to de-risk processes and improve communication channels.
The work model for the role is: on-site at ABB's Stonehouse location.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Identifying and recommending improvement opportunities and implementing improvement projects.
- Approving the design for processes developed internally or externally and performing final tests.
- Providing support to Production during the internal/external process/equipment start-up.
- Evaluating new process technologies to improve productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
Key skills & experience:
- Strong mechanical engineering background, including design of fixtures and tooling.
- Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred, but not essential).
- Able to balance reactive production support with proactive improvement initiatives.
- Proven experience delivering measurable continuous improvement results.
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills.
Qualifications for the role:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5+ years experience in a manufacturing and assembly environment.
- Experience in production or process improvement engineering roles.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools (Lean Six Sigma, 5S, root cause analysis).
- Strong communication skills across all levels of an engineering organization.
- Team-focused, organized, and detail-oriented.
