This position reports to: R&D Manager

As a Certification Engineer, you will manage product certification throughout the entire product lifecycle, leading engagement with notified bodies and regulatory authorities to secure and maintain certification for new and existing products. You'll ensure ongoing compliance with global standards across target markets while providing regulatory expertise to support new product development, product enhancements and certification maintenance.

Reporting to the R&D Technology Center Manager, you'll collaborate closely with product managers, project managers, design teams, factory support functions and notified bodies to help bring innovative, compliant products to market.

Your Role and Responsibilities: In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

  • Lead and coordinate the certification of new products from concept through to market launch.
  • Prepare, compile and submit technical documentation, test reports and certification applications to notified bodies.
  • Act as the primary contact for notified bodies, managing assessments and responding to technical queries, observations and non-conformances.
  • Prepare technical documentation to support EU Declarations of Conformity and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the maintenance, renewal and ongoing validity of product certifications throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate certification records and tracking systems to ensure continued compliance.
  • Provide regulatory guidance to product development teams, embedding certification requirements early in the design process.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory inspections and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen certification processes.

Work model: hybrid from our Stonehouse location.

Qualifications for the Role:

  • Experience in product certification, regulatory compliance or a similar engineering role.
  • A degree (or equivalent qualification) in an engineering or other relevant technical discipline. Candidates with alternative technical qualifications and relevant practical experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of relevant product directives and standards, including LVD, EMC, ATEX and DWD, along with certification schemes such as CE, UL and FM.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical files, certification applications and conformity assessment documentation.
  • Experience with global or industry-specific certifications such as UL, CSA, FM, MCERTS, Marine or drinking water approvals would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with PLM and/or ERP systems for document management and engineering change control would be beneficial.
  • Experience working within a structured new product introduction (NPI) or product development environment would be beneficial.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
