Overview
In this role you will lead ABB’s Electrical Design competency for the EMEA region, shaping technical strategy and standards while driving delivery of R&D results. You will manage multidisciplinary teams and ensure resources are aligned to project goals, enhancing electrical products and solutions across medium-voltage systems and sensor-enabled technologies. You’ll oversee lab operations and certification readiness, and build roadmaps aligned with market needs. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role in a global R&D context.

Responsibilities
- Lead the Electrical Design competency across the EMEA region, defining strategy, standards, and objectives
- Build and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams with the right skills and capacity
- Drive development of electrical products and solutions including medium-voltage systems, surge protection, earthing, lightning protection and sensors
- Provide technical leadership for complex engineering challenges, including failure analysis and risk reduction
- Oversee operation and development of the Electrical and Medium Voltage Laboratory, testing capability and certification readiness
- Create technology roadmaps aligned with customer needs, market trends, and business priorities
- Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, Operations, Quality, Innovation and external partners
- Serve as the senior technical authority for electrical engineering technologies in the region
Key requirements
- Bachelor or Master in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, High-Voltage Engineering, Electronics or related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in electrical product or system development in relevant sectors
- Strong knowledge of electrical product and system architecture, insulation coordination, electrical stress analysis, thermal performance and EMC
- Experience leading engineering teams and managing decision-making across locations and stakeholders
- Knowledge of IEC, EN, UL, CSA, IEEE and other standards and certification requirements
- Experience with electrical testing, validation, type-test preparation, failure analysis and design verification
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills; passion for innovation and continuous improvement
