We are looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer to join ABB's Automation Energy Industries UK Electrical team, playing a key role in delivering the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and project engineering support of Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) switchgear, protection relays, and Variable Speed Drive (VSD) systems. Working across a diverse portfolio of projects, you'll support critical power generation, distribution, and motor drive applications within the oil & gas, marine, and renewable energy sectors. Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade and retrofit MV/LV switchgear, protection relay and Variable Speed Drive (VSD) systems.
  • Provide technical support and engineering expertise both remotely and on customer sites across the full service lifecycle.
  • Develop protection relay settings and coordination studies, supporting safe and reliable power system operation.
  • Contribute to power system studies including short-circuit, load flow, arc flash, harmonic and EMC assessments.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults on ABB VSD systems, including ACS1000, ACS5000, ACS6000, ACS800 and ACS880 drives.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering drawings, testing procedures, work packs and method statements.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to define project scope, support bids and identify service growth opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with ABB quality standards, IEC requirements and applicable international regulations, while delivering technical training and knowledge.
