We're working with a leading civil engineering contractor that is continuing to invest in its in-house ecology team, and due to their growing workload across major infrastructure projects, opportunities are available for Ecologists at a range of levels, from experienced Field Ecologists through to Senior Ecologists. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established environmental team supporting high-profile projects across highways, transport, utilities and other infrastructure sectors, with genuine opportunities for career progression and professional development.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering ecological consultancy services across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects, ensuring ecological risks and opportunities are identified and effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out a range of protected species and habitat surveys.
  • Delivering UK Habitat Classification and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments.
  • Producing technical reports, ecological impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Supporting Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) duties during construction.
  • Assisting with protected species licensing and habitat mitigation.
  • Working across both field-based and office-based projects with exposure to a wide variety of habitats and protected species.

Our client requires an Ecologist with:

  • Experience undertaking ecological field surveys and producing technical reports.
  • Knowledge of UK Habitat Classification, Biodiversity Net Gain and protected species legislation.
  • A good understanding of UK ecological legislation, planning policy and best practice guidance.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Wales, with occasional travel further afield and overnight stays where required.

Salary/Benefits:

  • £35,000 - £55,000 p/a
  • Company car & fuel card with a range of EV and Hybrid vehicles.
  • Salary sacrifice EV/Hybrid Scheme.
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
