Abatec Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Recycling Operative to join a busy and fast-paced recycling operation. This is a hands-on role involving the processing of materials, recovery of recyclable metals, operation of plant machinery, and maintaining high standards of health and safety across the site.
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 16:00
- Occasional Saturday work available
Pay:
- Starting pay rate of £14.71 per hour
- Increased hourly rate of £16.00 - £17.00 per hour for candidates with an NPORS card and/or relevant mechanical experience
- Overtime paid at an additional £4.53 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate recycling plant equipment safely, including screens, magnets, and crushers.
- Monitor equipment and help keep operations running efficiently.
- Sort and recover recyclable materials at picking stations.
- Operate loaders, excavators, and other machinery when authorised.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience within recycling, waste management, quarrying, aggregates, or a similar industrial environment is preferred.
- NPORS plant operator certification is advantageous.
- Mechanical experience is highly desirable and may attract a higher hourly rate.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out demanding manual work.
Working Environment:
- Fast-paced industrial recycling facility.
- Indoor and outdoor working conditions.
