An established regional civil engineering is seeking an accomplished Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team in Bridgend. With a strong track record and a well-respected presence across the Southwest, the company is renowned for delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions across a diverse range of sectors, including infrastructure, marine, energy, water, and public realm projects.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a pivotal role within a varied, high-profile project portfolio. Our client, with an annual turnover exceeding 80 million, delivers civil engineering contracts throughout South Wales, typically valued between 3 million and 8 million. The successful candidate will be primarily office-based, with occasional site visits, and will play a key role in managing subcontractor relationships, overseeing applications and payments, and ensuring effective cost control.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will:
- Manage all commercial aspects of allocated projects from inception to completion.
- Prepare, submit, and agree applications for payment and final accounts.
- Procure, appoint, and manage subcontractors, ensuring value for money and compliance with contractual terms.
- Monitor and control project costs, identifying risks and opportunities to maximise profitability.
- Prepare and agree variations, claims, and compensation events in line with contract conditions.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are met.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, contract terms, and relevant legislation.
Our client requires a Senior Quantity Surveyor with:
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the UK civil engineering or construction sector.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
- Experience managing projects valued between 3m – 8m.
- Excellent subcontractor procurement and management skills.
- Proficient in cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting.
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
- Good understanding of the local South Wales supply chain.
- Relevant degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites when required.
Salary/Benefits:
- Up to 70,000 per annum
