Abatec is assisting a regional civil engineering contractor with the recruitment of a permanent Site Engineer to support the delivery of highways and civil engineering projects across Somerset, North Somerset, & Gloucestershire area. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with project specifications. You will work closely with the Site Agent and project team to coordinate site activities, carry out setting out duties and maintain high standards of quality and safety.

As Site Engineer you will:

  • Carry out setting out for highways and civil engineering works including drainage, kerbing, earthworks and road construction.
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications and site information.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with design, programme and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, QA documentation and as-built information.
  • Assist with preparation and implementation of RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
  • Support the Senior staff with progress reporting and technical queries.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures on site.

Our client requires a Site Engineer with:

  • Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within highways or civil engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of setting out using modern surveying equipment (e.g. GPS / Total Station).
  • HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Understanding of AutoCAD.
