Abatec is assisting their client, a global civil engineering contractor, with the recruitment of a permanent Design Engineer. Our client is involved in major projects across the UK, with the most notable one being the £200M heavy civil engineering project in North Wales. A technically complex scheme involving the removal of existing pylons and the construction of two tunnels to carry electricity cabling.
The successful candidate will help manage the design consultant activities and deliverables, ensuring completion in line with agreed programmes and project requirements. You will act as the technical lead for permanent works design, tracking input and output of deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Manage technical queries, assigning actions and following up on responses.
- Coordinate design deliverables, reviews, and workshops, maintaining comprehensive records.
- Support the Design Manager to ensure all design outputs meet programme timelines.
- Ensure all designs meet required standards, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Manage BIM requirements and collaborate on temporary works design packages.
- Oversee the provision of drawings and documents to the project team.
Qualifications
- Wide-ranging understanding and working knowledge of construction methods and outputs who can coach others.
- Substantial construction and design experience.
- An understanding of principal designer duties.
- Experience in implementing and promoting Digital Engineering practices in Design as well as construction.
- Heavy Civil Engineering project experience (advantageous).
Salary and Benefits
- £45,000 to £50,000.
- Car allowance or company vehicle.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Company pension + additional benefits.
