Abatec is assisting their client, a leading civil engineering contractor, with the recruitment of a permanent Design Manager in Exeter / Bristol. Our client has secured a key role delivering infrastructure works on South West Water’s AMP 8 framework, forming part of a major regional investment estimated at £3B to improve water resilience, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing wastewater infrastructure.

The successful candidate will lead the coordination, management, and delivery of multidisciplinary design across a portfolio of water and wastewater projects within the AMP 8 programme.

As Design Manager you will:

  • Lead the design team, ensuring that they meet clients requirements and project objectives
  • Manage the design function, ensuring that design deliverables are produced to allocated key dates
  • Ensure the organisation of design elements, documenting in into the Design Management Plan and preparing regular status updates
  • Attend Programme, project and technical meetings
  • Provide support during construction and commissioning stages of work
  • Ensure that design complies with all Health and Safety codes and legislation

Our client requires a Design Manager with:

  • HND/Degree in an engineering related discipline
  • Extensive experience working in a multi-disciplinary design environment
  • Experience of working on major projects within the Water sector, involving both Civil and M&E aspects

Salary and benefits include:
