St David Recruitment is seeking to recruit an Essential Skills Lecturer for our Cardiff-based client within the education sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Essential Skills teaching, supporting learner progress and achievements, contributing to our clients vision, values and commitment to continuous improvement.

The role will involve delivering Essential Skills provision across, helping learners to develop their literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and employability skills.

The postholder will work collaboratively with colleagues and relevant support services to provide effective and engaging teaching, promote learner achievement, and contribute to the College’s wider strategic priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, deliver, assess and mark high-quality Essential Skills lessons. Teach learners from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 across relevant Essential Skills areas.
  • Monitor and track learner progress, achievement and engagement.
  • Complete all relevant administration, including learner registration and qualification claims.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams and support services to meet learner needs.

Refer learners to appropriate support, including ALN, wellbeing and learning support services.

Maintain accurate records and comply with policies and procedures.

  • Participate in CPD, staff appraisal and quality improvement activities.
  • Promote equality, diversity, safeguarding, learner wellbeing and a positive learning environment.
  • Work flexibly across campuses and external venues as required.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and grade.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications

  • Appropriate degree or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade B or above, or equivalent.
  • One or more Level 3 Essential Skills qualifications in Literacy, Numeracy, Digital Literacy, ESOL or Employability, or willingness to work towards an appropriate qualification.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Relevant teaching experience.
