Abatec is supporting a key client in the recruitment of a SHEQ Manager or Senior SHEQ Manager to help deliver critical water and wastewater infrastructure programmes across South Wales.
This role sits within an established multi-disciplinary delivery team and is integral to maintaining high standards of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) across a major long-term framework.
Combining strategic leadership with hands‑on operational oversight, the SHEQ/Senior SHEQ Manager will support a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, workforce safety, environmental protection, and quality outcomes across multiple live sites and contractor teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation and continuous improvement of the SHEQ Management System across framework operations.
- Develop and maintain SHEQ strategy aligned with client expectations, UK legislation and ISO standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
- Develop assurance programmes, audit schedules and compliance monitoring processes.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including CDM Regulations, HSE guidance and environmental legislation.
- Report on SHEQ performance trends, KPIs and improvement actions to senior management and client representatives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as part of a Health & Safety team within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
- IOSH membership (or working towards)
- Strong knowledge of UK H&S and environmental legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Environmental qualification and/or IEMA membership.
- EUSR / SHEA Water.
