Abatec is assisting their client, a growing civil engineering contractor based in South Wales, with the recruitment of a Graduate or Junior Land Surveyor. Our client specialises in Civil Engineering projects in and around water & often in challenging environments; river embankments, sea defence schemes, highways & bridge culverts, and watercourse diversions.
The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience & will support survey and construction teams on-site and, in the office, assisting with data capture, equipment use, and processing (training provided). The role offers strong development opportunities, with ongoing training and support towards further qualifications.
As Junior Land Surveyor, you will:
- Undertake land / topographic surveys, using a variety of specialist equipment and technology
- Use a range of equipment to produce surveys
- Analyse information thoroughly before it is handed over
- Process the site data (desirable but not essential)
- Check equipment is correct and in calibration for all site activities
- Use equipment in the correct manner, keeping it clean and functional before returning to stores
- Produce site records and specified output/deliverables as required
- Prepare survey drawings (desirable but not essential)
- Advise about technical matters
- Work both on site and in offices/workshops as required
- Support development of in-house engineers and trainees to use survey equipment effectively and process data
Our client requires a Junior Land Surveyor with:
- Degree/HNC/HND in Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar (or working towards)
- Some practical experience (placement, internship, or up to 2-3 years)
- Willingness to learn and work in challenging environments
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Full UK driving licence (or working towards)
Salary/Benefits: £28,000 - £35,000, Private healthcare, Pension, Structured training and career development + additional benefits.
