Group Tax and Compliance Officer Location Armagh City Salary 50,000 – 65,000 on experience The Opportunity – Abacus Careers is recruiting for a Group Tax and Compliance Officer to take ownership of European workforce compliance across employees and subcontractors.
This is a broad, commercially important role covering Posted Worker compliance, cross-border tax and payroll, social security, immigration and in-country employment requirements.
You'll work across multiple European jurisdictions, helping ensure employees and subcontractors are fully compliant before mobilisation while providing specialist guidance to HR, Finance, Payroll and Operations. Reporting to the Finance Director, you'll also coordinate with local payroll providers and external advisers on more complex international tax and legal matters. What You'll Be DoingManage Posted Worker compliance for employees and subcontractors, including registrations, declarations and supporting documentation.
Monitor European deployments, working locations and duration to identify payroll, tax, social security and Permanent Establishment (PE) risks.
Review country-specific requirements, including collective agreements, minimum pay, allowances, working time, holiday funds and employment conditions.
Coordinate international payroll requirements, liaising with local payroll providers and advisers, and review UK and Irish payrolls where this remains part of the role.
Oversee A1 applications, host-country social security requirements and subcontractor compliance documentation.
Manage employment permits, visas and right-to-work documentation, including renewals and ongoing immigration compliance.
Coordinate responses to labour authority enquiries, inspections and compliance audits.
Maintain European compliance trackers, procedures, records and internal controls while supporting overseas recruitment and workforce planning where required. What We're Looking For.
You'll ideally bring experience in one or more of the following areas: European workforce complianceGlobal mobilityEmployment taxInternational payrollPosted Worker complianceCross-border construction complianceStrong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple countries, requirements and deadlines. A relevant qualification such as ACA, ACCA, IATI, ATT or CTA would be advantageous, although strong practical experience in European workforce compliance, Posted Workers and cross-border employment matters will be considered equally valuable.
