The Opportunity:
Abacus Careers is partnering with a Big 4 Firm to recruit an experienced Senior Tax Manager for its expanding Belfast tax team. This is a senior appointment for an ambitious tax professional who wants to combine technical expertise, advisory work, people leadership and commercial responsibility. You’ll work with a diverse portfolio ranging from owner-managed businesses to larger corporate groups, taking ownership of key client relationships and complex tax matters. Alongside delivering high-quality corporate tax work, you’ll lead and develop colleagues, work closely with Partners and play an active role in business development and the continued growth of the tax practice.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and manage a varied portfolio of corporate tax clients, acting as a senior point of contact and trusted adviser.
- Oversee the delivery and review of high-quality corporation tax compliance work across the portfolio.
- Lead and contribute to advisory assignments covering restructures, transactions and tax planning projects.
- Build senior-level client relationships, identifying challenges, opportunities and areas where the wider tax team can add value.
- Lead, mentor and develop Tax Seniors, Assistant Managers and other junior colleagues, providing technical guidance and reviewing their work.
- Work closely with Partners, supporting strategic projects, complex client matters and the continued development of the tax practice.
- Play an active role in business development, helping identify opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Maintain strong technical knowledge of evolving tax legislation and relevant market developments.
What We’re Looking For:
- ACA or ACCA qualified with 3+ years’ post-qualified experience, OR qualified Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA).
- Approximately 6+ years’ overall tax and/or accounting experience.
- Strong technical corporate tax knowledge with experience across compliance and advisory work.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead, mentor and develop team members.
- Confidence working directly with senior clients and supporting Partners on complex assignments.
- A commercially minded, client-focused approach with the ability to contribute to business development opportunities.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
