About the Role
Are you meticulous, organised, and confident handling client money within a busy legal finance environment? We’re looking for a Legal Finance Assistant to play a key role in managing client account transactions and maintaining compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR). You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive finance team, ensuring accuracy, control, and exceptional service across all areas of client accounting.
What You’ll Do
- Checking, banking, and posting all client, currency, and deposit receipts.
- Processing client and deposit payment requisitions accurately and promptly.
- Managing inter‑ledger transfers (Client to Bill, Client to Disbursement, etc.).
- Reconciling daily bank movements and investigating unidentified receipts.
- Assisting with opening and closing client, joint, and escrow bank accounts.
- Ensuring full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
- Supporting year‑end audits and preparing client cash statements and reports.
- Handling ad‑hoc queries from fee earners, partners, and external stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Has experience in account cashiering within a legal or professional services firm.
- Possesses a solid understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and AML procedures.
- Is highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Has great communication skills and the confidence to build internal and external relationships.
- Is proficient in Excel and financial systems (ideally ERP like SAP, MS Dynamics or Oracle).
