An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Finance Department of a large financial instition for a qualified accountant. This is a superb opportunity to undertake a long term assignment in a large business, working on big systems alongside a high calibre team, this is a profile enhancing job opportunity. This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant to collaborate with colleagues across the Finance function (including Financial Control, External Reporting, Financial Planning &,Performance Analysis, Tax and Treasury), delivering accurate financial and regulatory reporting for the Bank, generating key MI to support our internal business partners and working closely with Finance Leadership Team to deliver the Banks strategic priorities. Role Description As a Financial Reporting Manager, you will have the opportunity to gain experience across a range of key financial functions, including the budgeting and forecasting process, developing Bank-focused financial insight and analysis and delivering the Banks statutory, regulatory and external reporting. You will also have responsibility for leading projects, as well as maintaining a robust control environment. Typical Responsibilities As a Financial Reporting Manager, depending on the needs of the Finance function, the key fields of responsibility, insight and specialist opportunities may include: Financial reporting Working with the Financial Control team to maintain robust processes and ensure complete, accurate and timely financial information for the production of monthly and annual accounts; Oversight of certain key Balance Sheet accounts ensuring timely, complete and accurate reconciliations are performed; Preparation of certain disclosure notes in the Banks statutory annual report and financial statements, including primary responsibility for maturity analysis; hire purchase & leasing analysis and audit fee disclosures; Interacting directly with External Auditors during both interim and year end statutory external audit reviews, providing detailed direction, explanation and supporting documentation (as required) to demonstrate the Banks compliance with current IFRS accountings standards; and Assisting with the ongoing monitoring review and checking of all financial controls and processes, identifying key areas of financial risk and implementing controls to mitigate the risk. Financial planning & performance management Developing and maintaining strong relationships across the organisation in order to serve and challenge the businesses strategic goals and priorities; Regulatory reporting Being responsible for the production of certain regulatory returns in a timely manner to ensure sufficient oversight and critical review from management prior to submission; Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following: Essential qualifications: Recognised accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) Essential Experience: Background and experience gained working in an accountancy firm or within a finance function/team A strong demonstrable experience of Excel and use of advanced functionality within Excel, as well as other tools, to manage large amounts of data and develop spreadsheet models to efficiently manage processes Possess a strong business acumen and able to use analysis underpinned by financial information to drive improvements in business performance Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the Bank. Preferred Experience: A good understanding of the characteristics of a retail bank balance sheet and product characteristics An understanding of the UK Financial Services industry and the regulatory challenges faced by the Retail Banking sector Experience in the development of regulatory returns to comply with new legislative / regulatory requirements. Essential competencies: Excellent planning and organisational skills, prioritising as appropriate Ability to work using own initiative Analytical and logical approach to problem solving. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Proven competitive drive to achieve results Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels Ability to communicate complex information effectively Salary & Benefits Competitive annual salary, depending on experience. 40 days leave per year (30 days annual leave plus 10 paid bank holidays).
