Responsibilities:
- Inspect private sector properties and identify hazards under the Housing Act.
- Lead on complex enforcement cases (including legal action where required).
- Work closely with landlords, tenants, and partner organisations to achieve compliance.
- Identify unlicensed HMOs and issue civil penalties or prosecutions where appropriate.
- Prepare professional reports and support junior officers through supervision and mentoring.
- Contribute to resolving housing disrepair complaints and improving amenity and fire safety standards in Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs).
Essential requirements:
- A Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health.
- EHORB Registered.
- A committed attitude to improving housing standards and protecting tenants.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise reports and work effectively without constant supervision.
- A full UK Driving Licence and access to reliable mobility around the Borough.
