Responsibilities:

  • Inspect private sector properties and identify hazards under the Housing Act.
  • Lead on complex enforcement cases (including legal action where required).
  • Work closely with landlords, tenants, and partner organisations to achieve compliance.
  • Identify unlicensed HMOs and issue civil penalties or prosecutions where appropriate.
  • Prepare professional reports and support junior officers through supervision and mentoring.
  • Contribute to resolving housing disrepair complaints and improving amenity and fire safety standards in Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs).

Essential requirements:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health.
  • EHORB Registered.
  • A committed attitude to improving housing standards and protecting tenants.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise reports and work effectively without constant supervision.
  • A full UK Driving Licence and access to reliable mobility around the Borough.
