We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead the accounting function of our well established and successful SME client.
Responsible for financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting and internal controls, the Financial Controller will have a strong background in reporting financial information to management and a Board of Directors, as well as compliance with government regulations.
On a day to day basis your responsibilities as the Financial Controller will include:
- Managing the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Overseeing the preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Developing and maintaining financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis.
- Providing management and leadership to a small accounting team.
- Working closely with other members of the Senior Management Team.
- Management of the monthly payroll.
- Ensuring compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, corporation tax, and other statutory filings.
- Liaising with external accountants for the year end statutory accounts, managing the audit process and addressing queries.
- Implementing and maintaining robust internal controls and financial procedures.
- Providing financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
The successful candidate will contribute to the financial strategy of the business and will be pivotal in the development of all internal controls policies and procedures in the Company. The Financial Controller role is critical in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
The individual will have strong Excel skills and a good understanding of computer systems, ideally with experience of working with Sage software. We are seeking a qualified, or qualified by experience, Accountant who is used to working in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to process improvement and the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
