Abacus Careers is very pleased to support the continued growth of Northern Ireland's fastest growing Accountancy Practice with the Appointment of Audit Partner/Director. This is a key time for this firm, expansion via business wins and referral has meant that this strategic hire is top priority. We are seeking to augment an already high-performing leadership group and highly prominent team, with a high profile, post-qualified Accountant.

It is likely that the preferred candidate for this position will be operating at least at Associate Director level. Applications from Director or Partner levels within another Top 10 or mid-sized accountancy firm in Northern Ireland or UK are welcomed.

Suitable applicants will be able to illustrate:

  • Professional Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, or equivalent, with extensive post-qualification experience in external audit.
  • Registered Individual (RI): Ideally you will already hold RI status, with the ability to sign off audits independently, or be in a position to obtain such.
  • Audit Expertise: Proven track record of leading complex audit engagements for a diverse client portfolio within the SME community.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and inclusion.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of IFRS, UK GAAP, and regulatory compliance, ensuring audits meet the highest standards.
  • Client Relationship Management: Exceptional ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on financial reporting and risk management.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strategic thinker with a history of contributing to business development, identifying opportunities, and driving growth.

  • Business Growth: Lead business development efforts to expand our audit practice, identifying opportunities, building networks, and enhancing the firm’s profile.
  • Team Development: Inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing audit teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional growth.
  • Compliance & Quality: Ensure the highest standards of audit quality and compliance, adhering to IFRS, UK GAAP, and regulatory requirements.

Basic salary will depend on level of post-qualification and track record of the successful candidate. Salary ranges from £85k for those at Associate level, to £100-120k+ for current Director/Partner levels.
