Location: Warwick - Hybrid (frequent UK & Ireland Travel with occasional overseas travel)

We are now looking for an Applications Engineer to support OEM customers across the UK. This is a varied role combining engineering, customer collaboration and field-based work, supporting installations from concept through to commissioning.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical or Automotive Engineering.
  • Hands‑on experience working with diesel engines, electric drivetrains or power systems.
  • Experience supporting installations, commissioning, testing or troubleshooting in the field.
  • Experience building relationships at every level, from directors in blue‑chip organisations to owners of SMEs and workshop teams on the ground.
  • A valid UK driving licence.

What will you be doing?

You will report directly to our Industrial Sales Director and work closely with our Applications Engineer, Sales Account Manager and Industrial OEM Account Manager, alongside wider sales teams, engineering divisions and our headquarters in Gothenburg, representing Volvo Penta as a technical expert.

  • Visit key OEMs to provide technical support, advice, and perform installation testing and certifications.
  • Collaborate with sub‑manufacturers and governmental bodies regarding equipment.
  • Assist the sales department with application engineering, installation approvals, and organise trials and commissioning.
  • Offer guidance on design specifications, installation matters, and torsional vibration calculations.
  • Review customer inquiries and advise on suitable engine components, including mechanical and electrical designs.
  • Support new RFQs and projects, assisting with builds, product evaluations, and installation commissioning.
  • Deliver training to OEM engineering teams and represent Volvo Penta at industry events.
  • Provide technical backup to dealers and assist with troubleshooting.
