We are seeking an Alternative Fuels Product Quality Engineer to join our Commercial Aftersales team and support the performance and reliability of alternative fuel trucks across the UK. In this technical role, you will represent Customer Support within Service Market in relation to alternative fuel-powered trucks. Acting as a bridge between the UK dealer network and global technical teams, you will help ensure product quality issues are identified, understood and resolved quickly.

You will come from a commercial vehicle workshop environment and you are a technically capable professional who enjoys solving problems and helping others understand complex information.

  • NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
  • Extensive experience working in a busy commercial vehicle workshop environment
  • IMI Level 3 Electromobility qualification would be advantageous
  • In-depth technical knowledge of truck systems and diagnostics
  • Presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to build relationships across dealerships and internal teams
  • Experience using Microsoft Office platform such as Excel
  • Organised, self-disciplined and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • A proactive team player who can also work independently
  • Hold a LGV Class 2 driving licence (Cat C)

  • Provide day to day technical support to the dealer network through the technical helpdesk rota
  • Investigate and manage product quality concerns relating to alternative fuel trucks
  • Log and monitor Field and Dealer Quality Reports while working with global technical teams to identify solutions
  • Analyse warranty data and failure trends to identify recurring issues and support improvements
  • Support regional management teams with product quality updates and technical expertise during dealer or customer visits

You will work closely with technical specialists, sales teams and dealer partners to ensure vehicles continue to meet the highest standards of reliability and performance. Reporting to the Alternative Fuels Product Quality Manager, you will also collaborate cross-functionally with dealerships across the UK, colleagues at Volvo’s head office in Sweden and internal sales teams to support the continued rollout of alternative fuel technologies.
