Primary purpose and function of position: Reporting to the First Line Manager, you will play a key role within a high-performing engineering team supporting a fast-paced Automated Storage & Retrieval System (ASRS). This is a hands-on engineering role focused on fault finding, problem solving, and driving equipment reliability in a demanding FMCG environment. You will take ownership of issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable improvements to maximise system performance. This role is ideal for an ambitious, proactive engineer who takes ownership, learns quickly, and is motivated to progress into a leadership position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across the ASRS as part of a multi-skilled engineering team.
Accountabilities:
- Mechanical and Electrical maintenance, including carrying out planned and reactive electrical and mechanical maintenance across the ASRS system
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and mechanical faults in a high-pressure environment
- Take full ownership of breakdowns from initial fault through to permanent resolution
- Analyse equipment performance data to identify and eliminate recurring issues
- Identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives to improve system reliability and performance
- Challenge existing practices and drive improvements to engineering and operational standards
- Develop and improve SOPs, SWIs, and maintenance procedures
- Work closely with OEMs and contractors to resolve technical issues and manage spares
- Record maintenance activity accurately within SAP/CMMS systems
- Support and uphold safety, quality, and performance standards at all times
- Contribute to a high-performing team culture built on accountability and ownership
- Work at height where necessary
Key skills, knowledge and Competencies:
- Strong electrical fault finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to troubleshoot automated systems in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Structured, logical problem-solving approach with a focus on root cause and long-term fixes
- Demonstrates ownership and accountability for equipment performance and fault resolution
- Proactive mindset with a drive to learn quickly and continuously improve
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Strong organisational and prioritisation ability
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement / Lean principles
- Good IT literacy (SAP / CMMS desirable)
Key Experience and Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
- Multi-skilled engineer with strong electrical bias
- Proven fault finding experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience working within a multi-disciplined engineering team
Desirable:
- Experience working with PLC-controlled systems
- SAP PM / CMMS experience
- Experience with automated warehouse systems
- Demonstrates ambition and capability to progress into a leadership role
