Primary purpose and function of position: To undertake daily / weekly / monthly activities in order for the Logistics Department to meet KPI requirements for cost, quality, service and behaviours through agreed ways of working.

Main Characteristics: The job requires the consistent execution of routine tasks to ensure smooth operation of pallets through the ASRS system. This consists of:

  • Ensuring pallets are stable, standard and secure
  • Removing / securing any loose wrap or top sheets
  • Repairing any rejected pallets – understanding how / why they have been rejected
  • Working with FLT drivers to remove/restack/repair any issues with pallets that are outside of the acceptable system parameters
  • Utilizing the system software to unblock any pallet breakages or jams
  • Working to agreed timescales, within agreed ways of working and with attention to detail as a key part of an efficient team
  • Maintain basic 5S standards across the ASRS area
  • Support engineers in maintenance activities linked to ASRS performance
  • Carry out basic maintenance and fault finding to ensure smooth system operation
  • Monitor ASRS equipment and report recurring faults or performance issues to engineers
  • Occasionally operate the ASRS independently in the absence of engineers (e.g. during holidays)
  • Work safely at height when required to operate ASRS components
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and efficiency

Scope: Logistics ASRS Department area within scope: From start to end of ASRS Operations.

Key Contacts: Departmental Manager, First Line Managers, ASRS Engineers, Multi Operators, Local union representatives, Occupational Health Advisor.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all Statutory & Legal requirements
  • Comply with all Safety, Health & Environment requirements
  • Comply with any appropriate packaging or food hygiene safety regulations as defined by policy or legislation, such as HACCP
  • Comply with all Product & Process Quality requirements
  • Comply with all Housekeeping, Cleaning & 5S requirements
  • Operate ASRS Equipment in order to ensure the department delivers finished goods of the right quality, at the right time and at the right cost to our customers
  • Support in the training and onboarding of new team members to ensure consistency of standards and knowledge across the team
  • Undertake improvement activities to ensure the department meets all of its KPI (Key Performance Indicators) Targets, such as Short Interval Control (SIC)
  • Undertake training for new skills & tasks within the Logistics Department in line with PDP’s. The primary objective being to up-skill those with fewer skills
  • Undertake any Logistics related tasks, as directed by the First Line Manager
  • Attend Meetings & Briefings as necessary
  • Comply with all documentation and transactions required to operate and improve performance in the department
  • Ensure that all internal customer requirements are met

Key Skills, Knowledge & Competencies:

  • Education: English & Mathematics Standard Grades or equivalent. Engineering based qualification preferred.
  • Experience: Automated systems or packaging line experience with some Engineering experience an advantage – Autonomous Maintenance.
  • Technical competencies: All operational training to be able to do the role is provided. FLT License where appropriate is an advantage.
