AB Event Hire is a family-run wedding, event and catering equipment hire company, which has been established in Woking for over 30 years. We provide all of the equipment and styling advice needed to create the perfect event, from tables and chairs to cutlery, glasses and even a dance floor.
We have a wide-ranging and extensive client base ranging from bride and grooms planning their big day, parents creating a birthday party, to a happy couple celebrating an anniversary.
We also work with lots of restaurants, hotels, catering companies & event planners within the hospitality industry.

Salary: £24,000- £28,000 per-rota
Number of positions for this role: 1
Working days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and one Saturday morning a month.
Hours: 8.30am-5pm, Saturday\’s 8.30am-11am
Job Overview
Working in a vibrant, events sector family business you will support and help local customers organise their catering and equipment hire for events, ranging from weddings, birthday parties to local fetes. A passion for events, weddings and parties is desirable!
As a key team member you will be responsible for customer orders, queries, and delivery planning. This could be over the telephone or in our showroom. This varied role will combine administration, customer service, warehouse control, stock take, washing up & cleaning hire items and working in a small team. You will help support our delivery team supplying equipment to local events.
You\’ll have a great eye for detail and a creative flair, and you\’ll be proactive in creating and maintaining a working environment that is positive and productive. This is an incredibly varied role and will suit someone that is very organised and wanting a busy all-round role where they are not micromanaged, given lots of responsibility and can grow and develop. This is a brilliant role for someone wanting a fast-paced, hardworking but fun environment with a good team ethos. It is an active role with some lifting and carrying.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with customers in person, on the phone, taking orders, dealing with queries and providing advice and guidance to maximise the customer experience.
- Helping with the logistics of deliveries, collections & laundry services.
- Perform data entry roles, including updating records & stocktake.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with existing clients & form new relationships with future customers.
- Maintain a clean and organised office environment.
- Able to use a range of software, including email, spreadsheets and databases.
- Ensure the hire equipment is in working order before going out & checking items on return.
- Assist the team with deliveries, loading / unloading the vans, cleaning, and maintaining our stock items, and picking and packing orders.
- Occasionally in the busy periods you might be asked to work the odd weekend and later into the evening.
- This can be quite a physical role which involves lifting items and sometimes ladder work.
Person Profile
- Confident, clear and professional communication style both in person and over the telephone.
- Ability to work on own and liaise effectively with the team.
- Hardworking, dedicated and have a positive \’can do\’ approach to all tasks.
- Flexible and willing to take on any task that supports the overall objectives of the company.
- Computer literate.
Successful candidates will be offered a part-time role of three days a week, with the opportunity of additional hours through overtime.
