Senior Business Change & Technology Project Manager – Peterborough
Job Title: Senior Business Change and Technology Project Manager
Location: Peterborough, Hybrid. This role also requires regular travel to another business unit located in Andover, UK.

Are you skilled in managing project team(s) comprising technical and non-technical members, 3rd parties, and business unit IT Teams, while guiding the development and management of project plans, team meetings, and steering committees?
We’re looking for someone to join us during an exciting time of growth and development. Our Global Delivery function is maturing its approach and aligning closely with our vision and strategy by launching a new service: ‘PMaaS’ (Project Management as a Service). This innovative service will act as an internal consultancy, offering project and programme-based professionals to support strategically significant business change and technology projects across the ABF Group.
Reporting to the Head of Project Delivery, you will coordinate the mobilisation and management of assigned technology projects and programmes. You’ll work closely with sponsors to ensure the delivery of desired business outcomes, meeting business case goals and benefits. This role will oversee diverse project and programme teams, including PMaaS resources from BTS, other ABF businesses, and external partners.
What you\'ll be doing:
- Implementing the management of assigned technology, change, and technical infrastructure projects and programmes through the lifecycle, adhering to governance methodology and approvals.
- Defining project scope and schedules, with a focus on timely and value-driven delivery, while supporting business change initiatives.
- Managing concurrent, high-visibility projects/programmes in a dynamic environment, spanning multiple ABF functions and businesses.
- Preparing and distributing progress reports, managing risks and issues, correcting deviations from plans, and performing delivery planning for assigned projects.
- Applying flexible governance by blending traditional Waterfall and Agile methodologies in the right proportions.
- Coordinating project team(s) consisting of technical and non-technical members, 3rd parties, and business unit IT Teams, including overseeing project plans, team meetings, and steering committees.
- Leveraging organisational resources to enhance capacity for project work while mentoring and developing team members.
- Supporting key stakeholders in managing customer expectations for project deliverables and communications.
- Establishing approaches to ensure benefit realisation and measurement against business cases across all assigned projects/programmes.
- Empowering teams to deliver high-quality work sustainably, while promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the PMaaS service.
What you\'ll bring:
- Experience in managing complex project and programme budgets, including projects valued in the £m’s.
- Proficiency in delivering Business Change, Technology, and Technical Infrastructure projects across geographically distributed businesses in a federated environment.
- Skilled in engaging with end users to plan business readiness activities that maximise adoption and satisfaction.
- Experience working across multiple delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid approaches).
- A balance of creative and pragmatic thinking to solve complex problems.
- A goal-focused attitude, with the ability to align decisions with broader business goals and expected outcomes.
- Effective leadership and relationship management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
- Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages to a variety of audiences.
