The Role & Key Responsibilities
Location: Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL6 2NH
Shift: 40Hrs per week - Monday to Friday Days 08:00 - 16:30. On call 1 in 3 covering out of hours and all weekend.
Responsibility for the overall maintenance of the site including both reactive and planned maintenance tasks, fault finding, and small improvement projects. Supporting the Engineering Manager to ensure health and safety, feed safety and Quality standards are never compromised.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure the site is Electrically & Mechanically safe at all times.
- Ensure all work is risk assessed and carried out on safely isolated equipment.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance in accordance with the agreed schedule. In line with our CMMS - Agility.
- Be proactive in cooperation with the Operators to agree equipment downtime and availability for maintenance tasks.
- Carry out all maintenance tasks to a high standard to minimise Plant downtime due to mechanical and electrical failure including reactive maintenance/breakdowns.
- Assist the Engineering Manager in ensuring that adequate spare parts are held in stock by keeping the stores area organised and reporting parts used in an accurate and timely manner. This to include ordering parts from suppliers using our internal PO/ordering system.
- Monitor and report plant condition as part of the daily routine.
- Support the Plant internal hygiene audit ensuring contribution to score increases audit on audit.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by highlighting/identifying possible cost saving initiatives or process improvements.
- Ensure workshop and maintenance area housekeeping is kept at a high standard.
- Assist with Control of Contractors, Permits to Work etc.
- Be available on a rota basis to respond to breakdowns out of hours.

To be successful we are looking for the following knowledge, skills and experience:
- Apprenticeship trained, HNC (or equivalent) or time served Engineer – ideally multi-skilled Engineer or with an Electrical bias 60:40 Electrical:Mechanical.
- Experience of working with maintenance systems.
- City & Guilds Electrical qualification desired.
- Good H&S knowledge in legislation and application (IOSH qualification, desirable) with a safety-first focus.
- Desirable if experience but training can be provided Confined Space Welding/Fabrication Qualifications 18th Edition PASAM, FLT, BOAS.

Location: Our sites are rural with minimal public transport therefore ability to access site without the need for public transport will be required.
