About The Role
As a Commercial Nutritionist based in the UK, you will play a key role in managing and growing a diverse portfolio of pet food customers, ranging from large multinationals to innovative startups. You will combine account management with nutritional and technical skills to support customers in developing nutritionally complete and complementary pet food products in a variety of formats such as dry, wet, and raw.
Your responsibilities will include designing premixes and supplements, pricing, pet food formulation, regulatory guidance, and problem-solving to ensure customer satisfaction and business growth. We are seeking an experienced professional with an extensive background in pet nutrition and pet food manufacturing, effective communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. The role is home-based with regular travel across the UK to visit customers, attend meetings, and participate in industry events.
What Youll Be Doing
- Manage a portfolio of pet food industry accounts across the UK, providing expert commercial and nutritional support to meet customer needs and grow business.
- Collaborate with customers to develop tailored premixes and pet food solutions, including complete diets and complementary products for a variety of companion animals.
- Support new business development by responding to inquiries, qualifying prospects, and building strong and trusted relationships with pet food companies.
- Ensure all nutritional solutions comply with relevant pet food regulations and assist customers with regulatory compliance, including labelling requirements.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform and develop winning commercial strategies and new product development.
What Were Looking For
- Solid understanding of pet nutrition and pet food manufacturing processes, including formulation of premixes (and supplements) for various pet food formats (dry, wet, freeze-dried, raw, etc).
- Established network and relationships within the UK pet food sector, including manufacturers, brands, private label producers, and start-ups.
- Significant commercial sales experience within the pet food industry, 3+ years, with a strong track record of managing and growing customer accounts.
- Technical knowledge of pet food regulations and compliance requirements, with the ability to advise customers on product development and labelling.
- Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of accounts, balancing account management with new business development and inquiry qualification.
